When to move cards to foundations
Each foundation belongs to one suit and builds from Ace through King. Moving low cards up usually helps, but moving a medium card too early can remove a rank needed to arrange the tableau.
The short version
A safe test is to compare the red and black foundation levels. If both opposite-color cards one rank lower are available, advancing a card is less likely to block an alternating tableau sequence.

- Move Aces and Twos promptly when they do not cover a more useful tableau move.
- Keep a card in the tableau when it is still needed to support a lower opposite-color rank.
- Remember that this game permits a legal foundation card to return to the tableau.
